What is a LPC?

A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) has met rigorous standards applied by the state licensing board and national credentialing agency. A LPC is trained to employ a variety of psychological principles through cognitive, affective, behavioral, or systemic intervention strategies to promote wellness, personal growth, or career development, as well as to address pathology.

THEORETICAL ORIENTATION:-

I use an integrative theoretical orientation when assessing and treating my clients. I use the following approaches as part of my integrative orientation: (1) The Humanistic Approach (client-centered therapy), (2) The Cognitive Approach (rational-emotive therapy), (3) The Psychodynamic Approach (free association/hypnosis), and (4) The Eastern Psychology Approach (meditation, relaxation, breathing techniques, positive auto-suggestions, positive programming of the mind, etc.) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) (5) Neurofeedback

It is also important to note, that I use other approaches as necessary.

CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE COUNSELING:-

Being a US citizen of a different cultural background myself, I know firsthand the importance of understanding a client’s cultural background. I think it is very important to keep a client’s background in mind as it can affect the way one approaches treatment. When assessing and treating clients, I feel that I am most effective when I am able to understand the “entire” client. This involves understanding the client’s familial, socio-economical, educational, emotional, and physiological background. In order to ensure that all of my clients gain happiness, peace, success, and sound health, I take into consideration their language, culture, education, and age when I provide therapy.

“ANAND MEDITATION”:-

I started to practice Yoga at the age of 8 years. Currently, I am a Certified Yoga Instructor. I underwent intensive training from Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (SVYASA), a deemed university which is recognized by Government of India, Ministry of HRD through UGC. The Certificate entitles me to teach yoga in any part of the World.

Having the curiosity to know what are Mind, Brain, Body, and Spirit and how to approach and experience them, I have developed "Anand Meditation" through a deep study of Western Psychology, Eastern Psychology-Philosophy, Yoga and breathing techniques/exercises, Energy healing, Bio-feedback, Hypnosis, Neuro-linguistic programming, Progressive muscle relaxation, Visualization, Auto-suggestions and Music therapy.

My experience as a licensed professional counselor, hypnotherapist and as a certified yoga Instructor helped me with this development.

“Anand” means “Bliss.” “Anand Meditation” can give us mental peace, so we can enjoy a very relaxed state of the mind. It can provide one with health, happiness, peace, and success to enjoy life fully. Happiness and sound health are goals of life, and “Anand Meditation” is a tool to help attain these goals. There are no negative effects of “Anand Meditation.” Its effects are always positive. “Anand Meditation” is a safe and harmless way to discover your inner soul/ consciousness/ sub-conscious mind, allowing you to make beneficial changes that you desire, quickly and comfortably. It is not a religion or philosophy but it’s purely a therapeutic approach.
